Blogger bits from Coconut Lane

I'm sure you would have seen Coconut Lane on Twitter, they are a great little site with loads of really instagrammable items. From stationery to Macbook skins to socks they're great for gifts or a treat for yourself. I'm a big fan of their wall art and they have some lovely jewellery too. I've had my eye on a choker but it's out of stock at the moment. After having a browse through I noticed how blogger friendly they were and I wanted to share a few bits with my fellow bloggers. When I shop it makes me feel better if I get others to shop too!

They have a selection of coasters, you can buy them individually or in a set. I really like the 'Stay Classy' one. A daily reminder when drinking my tea - love it. Are you really a true blogger if you don't own anything marble? You can never own too many notebooks, I have so many that are unused, I'm sure I'll fill them up with random lists in no time but for now they are good blog props at least. There are so many gorgeous MacBook skins -and lots in the sale too so it's totally acceptable to buy a few and change the look every few days. Let the world know you're a blogger with a blogger sweatshirt or just keep it in your office with pretty wall art.

You can use the code Photojenn20 at the checkout for 20% off so take a look and see what takes your fancy!

I've been trying my best to up my Instagram game with the help of a few little items here and there.

Seascape Soothe Sleep Oil

There's something about this time of year when I just want to be cosy. Maybe it's with the latest Hygge trend or the fact it's just so damn cold and dark all the time! What ever the reason I like to get the candles lit, switch on the fairy lights (could I be more blogger right now?!) and wind down.

I've been using this gorgeous little rollerball oil to calm me before I go to sleep and it's so lovely I wanted to share it with you.

I actually won this award winning Seascape Soothe Sleep Oil  on twitter just before Christmas. It came at the perfect time as I was going through a bit of a tough time mental-health-wise and I was really struggling to sleep. My new plan for this year is to put myself first more and stop worrying, taking time to rest is the first step.

It contains 100% natural lavender oil to relax and calm as well as oils from grape seed, sweet almond, orange flower and there's mandarin orange peel to balance the mind.

You simply use the gentle rollerball to apply to temples, wrist or under the nose before sleep or just when you want some tie to really relax. It releases a fresh, soft fragrance that is really calming. The gorgeous mixture of scents help to promote a good nights sleep.

It's a great size for travelling and the lid is secure so you on't have to worry about it leaking in your bag. I'm definitely going to be taking this on holiday this year, it's going to be really helpful to relax on the plane and I often find it difficult to drift off in a bed that I'm not used to.

It's not greasy or sticky and there are no artificial fragrances or colours. It is safe to use during pregnancy so it's an excellent gift for Mums to be.

All of Seascape's ingredients are sourced from ethical suppliers, the packaging is recyclable and they are against animal testing. This is the first product I've tried from Seascape but I'm really pleased that they use such natural products so I'll be checking out a few more bits from their skincare range.

Lush Valentine's 2017

It feels like only yesterday it was Christmas and we were all getting excited about the cinnamon, clove and orange scents from Lush. Now we're over Snow Fairy (or let's be honest, do we ever get over Snow Fairy?!) and it's time to welcome the Lush Valentine's range.

Each year I look forward to this, more-so than Christmas actually as I prefer the floral and sweet scents over the warmer wintery ones. I also rather like Valentine's day.

So the Valentine's stock hit Lush's shelves last week and much like previous years I have a couple of bits on my wish list. There's  a few new items and a couple making an appearance again. These are a few of my favourites...

1. Returning for another year is the Lover Lamp bathbomb (£4.25). This
leaves little red cocoa butter hearts floating in your bath. It's scented with vanilla and orange oil so this is full of ingredients bound to leaves your skin super soft

2. I might be wrong but I think the Rose Bombshell Bath bomb (£4.25)  was around last year but possibly not in the Valentine's collection. It's one I am ye to try so I'm glad it's available again. I'm loving anything with rose oil at the moment so this is right up my street. It leaves rose petals floating in the bath so it's an excellent choice for Valentine's. It's got a really uplifting scent with Sicilian lemon oil and geranium oil to perk you up.

3. Another one making  a comeback is the infamous Unicorn Horn Bubble bar (£4.50). I absolutely love this and I fully intend to stock up while it's still around. Don't be fooled by it's bright and vibrant look, this scent is so calming and excellent for winding down after a long day. With relaxing lavender and ylang ylang don't be surprised if you start to drift off.

4. The Cupid Bubble Bar (£2.95) looks like it's going to be my favourite. With a scent similar to the Razzle Dazzle bath melt it bathes you in a sweet pink fizz filled with rose, lime, raspberry and bergamot. It looks really cute and is a great price too.

5. Lastly the  Lovestruck Bubble Bar (£4.25) is perfect for any emoji lover. If you're anything like me then the heart eyes emoji is one of your most used (it used to be the sideways cat face before it was taken away from me - seriously that guy worked so well for 90% of my moods!). Sam has already treated me to this one. There's a Lush at his station on the way home from work so I can thank train delays for something! This one does look like a bath bomb but as a bubble bar you can break it up to use over two baths. It's quite a unique scent with lemon oil, geranium a more of a pick me up, you're left with citrusy bubbles that remind me of sherbet lemon sweets.

I'd love to know what you're planning on picking up from the Valentine's range. Let me know in the comments!

Lovebook -the perfect personalised Valentine's gift

With Valentines Day coming up (it's less than a month away now guys!) I like to seek out some of the more unique gifts. Yea we can buy chocolates, flowers etc (which all go down a total treat by the way!) but something extra special will win some big brownie points -as will actual brownies but I digress...

I stumbled upon this lovely little idea from the people over at Lovebook. I made one myself and I wanted to share it with you guys. It's a great Valentine's gift idea.

The idea is you put together your own little book that is totally unique to you. Look at it like a high quality scrapbook-meets story book.

You go through the website adding pages and editing everything so it's exactly how you like it.

The pictures are quite basic but you can make them as detailed as you like when you get the hang of things. It's all printed in black and white but I like that that gives you the option to go through yourself with pens and pencils to really add a handmade touch if you so choose.

You can get really creative with it. There's templates to work from or you can build your own pages from scratch. Just search the items you're after and pop them where you want on the page. There's no limit to how many pages you add either, you get unlimited amount of pages for a set price so you aren't restricted at all. I had a lot of fun going through the options, I got really into it!

Your book can be anything you like from individual pages that list why you like that person or little memories and quotes.

I decided to make the book about the story of how Sam and I got together. It was really nice looking back on our life so far while creating the book and it made me look forward to giving it to Sam even more.

There's a selection of front covers to choose from so you can make it really personal to you. I named the book 'Power Cuts and Sky Scrapers -the story of Jenna and Sam' which references when sparks started to fly (excuse the pun) after there was a power cut at work and Sam proposed at the Shard 4 years later.

I had a lot of fun creating it and was really inspired with ideas for new pages to add. The great thing is that you don't have to do it all in one sitting, you can save your progress and really take your time.

I was really impressed with how quickly the book was delivered and it's well packaged too.
My book is a hardback but you can go for a soft back version if you wish. I was really impressed with the quality. All books are professionally bound and made to last forever.

It doesn't have to be for a romantic partner, you can create books for birthdays and other occasions just to say you appreciate someone. Cute.

If you want to order one in time for Valentines day go here to get started.

You need to select economy delivery by 2nd  Feb to guarantee you get your book before Valentines day but there are faster options too where you pay a little more.

I really do think this is a brilliant gift, it's such a wonderful book for both of us to look back on and is really thoughtful.

*this was kindly gifted to me but all thoughts are 100% my own.

Mac Mariah Carey Lipstick Bit of Bubbly Review

As soon as I saw pictures of the Mariah Carey Mac collection I knew I was missing something in my life. I would not be complete until just one product graced my dressing table (or you know -desk, as I don't have a dressing table). The packing alone is just gorgeous and I loved the look of the range of products. I was so impressed with the wearable shades she'd come up with. All nudes, golds and shimmer -perfect to add a bit of sparkle to every day and of course for Christmas!

On Christmas day I was lucky enough to find one of the lipsticks under my tree 'From Mason'. He had actually mentioned to Sam that 'Mummy likes the sparkly lipstick' - top marks for being observant! I clearly bore him with my beauty talk too, poor kid.

I could have asked for all 23 items in the collection but I just knew I wouldn't actually use most of it. I'm trying to limit down the amount of eyeshadow palettes I buy, it has become slightly ridiculous how many just sit in my room. There is a gorgeous highlighter in the collection and although it would be beautiful in photos the colour looks like it would suit a darker skin tone to mine. Can you tell I've given myself a stern talking to?! I told Sam I would be happy with one of the nude lipsticks and that is exactly what he got me. I am thrilled with his choice!

Let's start with the blindingly obvious - the packaging. You couldn't get more 'Mariah' could you? The glitter and soft golden tones are stunning. The butterfly on the bullet is a gorgeous touch and a nod to Mariah's Butterfly album.

I've seen a lot of people with a lipstick from this collection say that they are too pretty to use but I've been wearing this lots since I opened it. I'm sure I'll weep a little when it goes down so far that the pretty butterfly is ruined though. Mac's Creme D'Nude is one of my most repurchased lipsticks and this is really similar, it just has slightly more of a pink-tone to it.

It has a cremesheen finish (my favourite of the Mac finishes). It's really soft and comfortable to wear. I think they colour payoff is really great too for a such a light shade. It has a warm peachy undertone and is great to pop on in the daytime but beautiful with a smokey eye on a night out.

I love the look of the other shades in this collection so if you picked up one of them  and have a post on it let me know so I can come and be nosey!

What I got for Christmas

Christmas came and went in a flash. We had a wonderful day at my parents with my brothers and their partners. For me, Christmas isn't about presents, it's all about time with family. Being around the people you love makes everything better and it was just what we needed.

I know there's a bit of a Love/Hate relationship with these posts and I was in two minds about posting this. I've decided I'm going into this year with more of a 'I don't care' attitude. I need stop worrying about what people think. I personally  love seeing these kind of posts so I'm going to share one too. I assume you are a fan if you clicked the link to this post so settle down and have a little look at a couple of the beauty items I got for Christmas.

I didn't want to share everything so I limited it to a few of the beauty based items I thought others might want to pick up for themselves. I've tried to link the items that I can find so you can treat yourself -I'm nice like that you see! I love all of the bits I got and I'm so grateful for not only the presents from my family but the support they've given us over the last year.

I was given a couple of gorgeous nude lipsticks. Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick in 'Kim KW' A beautiful nude that I've been wearing non stop since I opened it. I have a feeling this won't be my last Charlotte Tilbury lipstick! And also MAC Mariah Cary Lipstick in 'Bit of Bubbly'. This whole range is beautiful but the lipsticks were my favourite. I'll have to do a separate post on this one but would you just look at that glittery packaging?! Stunning.

One skincare brand I love is Origins and I'm glad I get to try out a couple more of their masks from the Origins Mask Marvels Set. I've only had samples of the Clear Improvement active charcoal mask which I loved and the Drink Up Intensive Overnight mask has been a life saver for my dry skin so I'm glad I've got another of those on standby now. I'm excited to try out the Maskimizer mask primer and Original Skin Retexturing mask with rose clay too.

I really liked the look of the Clinique pep-start range so the Clinique  Pep-Start set was perfect for me. All the products aim to get your skin bright and glowing -something I really need right now! Seriously my skin is so dull and dry so any tips or product recommendations would be appreciated. this set contains a 2 in 1 exfoliating cleanser, Pep-start hydroblur moisturiser and a Pep-start eye cream which is a product I've heard really great things about.

Everyone knows I am a bubble bath fan so naturally I was given couple of Lush bits. I was so pleased to unwrap a Comforter Shower Cream. I really love the Comforter Bubble bar but I've never tried any there shower gels apart from Snow Fairy. The smell is just amazing! Slightly stronger than the bubble bar, it reminds me of Tixylix cough medicine.

I've also got two bath bombs, the Lush Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb. This has appealed to me mainly for pictures I have seen of the sparkle inside it. The bubbles look so pretty! Orange and Bergamont oils make it so moisturising and refreshing so I can see me really enjoying this one. And my favourite the Lush Sex Bomb which gives me such a calm relaxing bath, I just love it! It is a good price to just pick up when I feel like treating myself. Containing Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage and Jasmine - it smells divine!

Another new product I was excited to try is the Lush Ruby Slippers Bubble Bar. Shoes + bath products -it's just very me! I've got plenty of excuses to have some time to relax in the bath now which will help with my new years resolutions.

I was in need of a couple of new brushes and this Real Techniques Sculpting Set is perfect. It's got a fan brush, finishing brush and setting brush to try out.

I'm well and truly stocked up on the face-mask front. I've been meaning to try out the new L'Oreal mask range and this L'Oreal Pure Clay Glow Mask claims to brighten and exfoliate. I've used this already and it's really helped with my dry skin and made my skin feel so soft afterwards. It's really easy to apply, has a pleasant scent, and has great results. Very impressed.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Please add your link in the comments if you have a post about your Christmas presents and I'll come and have a peek!

Bring it on 2017

Let's try not to focus on the crappy year that 2016 was.  I am SO determined for 2017 to be incredible. The one positive of having a tough year means I have more drive to make the next year the best it can be. I will do everything in my power to make sure we don't feel the same this time next year. There are some very exciting plans in place and the main focus of 2017 is us putting our happiness first.

Without mentioning the obvious things like drink more water, see my family more and save more money I've listed a few things I need to do in order to have a truly 'Happy' new year.

Listen to positives

We're all guilty of taking things to heart, it's easy to remember negative comments but I'm going to try to make sure I balance out thoughts by concentrating on positives that are pointed out to me. I love giving people compliments, I just need to be better a accepting them for myself.

Find a balance
We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be happy, and sometimes it's not that easy. We haven't failed if something goes wrong or we don't feel as happy as others (or how others look on Instagram!) Life happens, things come along to trip you up that no forward planning can prepare you for and that's ok. Kicking ourselves when we're already down isn't helpful, we're only human and we can only do our best to make a change. With the right mindset and the right people around you it's possible to get back on track again. I've been listening to the audiobook of 'Happy - Why everything is more of less absolutely fine' by Derren Brown and it's really good at explaining this kind of thing.

Stop over sharing
I'm quite an open book, I let a lot of my emotions show and sometimes it's best to keep a few things to myself. Being a blogger I've felt the need to share a lot of my life in the past and I realise it's nicer to keep things for the people that matter. My son for example, I've never really posted a lot about him on social media, choosing to actually talk about him in person or send pictures to people in emails. It's so much more personal and then I don't have to worry about anything being taken the wrong way.

Get fit again
With the wedding getting closer and closer I really need to get back into working out. I enjoy it, I like how I feel in myself and it will make me feel great in my beautiful dress as well as knowing I'll be the healthiest I can be. Yoga is really great for my mind too, I love feeling stronger both physically and mentally.

Get my Blogging mojo back
I have thought about stopping the blog for various reasons. After a lot of thought I know it's best to keep going. It's something I enjoy, something that helps pay the bills and gives me a bit of a purpose. I need to get some posts planned and keep the ideas flowing. I know some people just don't get it but I know it's a good use of my time and I need to stick at it.

Be Grateful
I plan make a note of what I'm grateful for each day. It's a great way to go into the new year with a positive mind. Even if it's something small it's good to focus on the little things that make me happy.

Realise my worth
A friend of mine has been great at helping me through a tough time recently. After some confrontation I felt a bit useless in my role in the family. I know how hard Sam works and I felt like 'being a Mum' just wasn't good enough. My friend told me to make a note of all of the little things I do for everyone each day and I would be surprised at how valuable my role is. I may not be bringing in a huge wage but bringing up our son and looking after the home is a big job and an important one at that. I don't have to justify myself to anyone, as long as my family are happy that's what matters.

Make time to just 'be'
I am SO bad at this. Everyone always comments about how I am constantly on the go. I just don't stop. I can't even settle down to watch some TV unless I do some ironing at the same time. I'm going to make the effort to get some early nights, have baths, read in bed, go for a walk, grab a coffee and take some me-time. I need to realise I do deserve it and I shouldn't feel guilty if I take some time out.

Let some things lie
I can spend a lot of energy trying to make a situation better. At times I have run myself into the ground trying my best to get a situation the way I feel it's best for everyone. It can be frustrating and very tiring. I've always been the type of person who wants things sorted as soon as possible, if there's a problem I confront it and get a line drawn under it and move on. I just want everyone to get on.  I've realised that not everyone works like that and at times it's best to just admit to yourself that things aren't going to change and that my energy is better channelled elsewhere. Too much negativity is just draining.

Wash my damn make-up brushes
I'm such a dirt bag. I really am. they need to be cleaned WAY more than I clean them.

and lastly eat more chocolate. Life is too short to cut out nice things.

I wish everyone a bloody great 2017. Learn to love yourself, remember it's ok to put yourself first and don't take life too seriously.
