Neal's Yard Remedies Skincare

I have really neglected my skin in the past. Too many nights where I didn't remove my make-up, never mind cleanse, tone and moisturise!  Not even a face wipe saw my face before my head hit the pillow. Awful, I know. I was young and naive.

But in the past couple of years I've made sure I take better care of my skin. As I get older I realise how important this is. With a wedding coming up and camera lenses picking up every little detail these days (ahhhhh!) I need to get on top of things.

I started to look into what ingredients were actually in my skincare and I have to say there's a lot of chemicals, chemicals that I have no idea where they came from or even what they do! I don't want stuff like that on my face.
We're exposed to so many nasties in day-to day life through cleaning products, even food and drink so if I find a good alternative for my skin I'll use it.

When I discovered Neal's Yard Remedies it was the amazing scents that sold me first and the fact that a lot of their products are 99% organic was a bonus. I can't deny the blue glass bottles had something to do with it too!

Neal's Yard keep things natural by avoiding things like parabens, mineral oils and silicons. That's basically a whole lot of goodness in those pretty blue bottles we know and love.

It all started in 1981 a little shop in Covent Garden and the company has grown and grown ever since spreading the word about the benefits of organic skincare. They aim to inspire and empower  people  on how to live a healthier lifestyle and achieve a greater wellbeing. Speak to any Neal's Yard consultant and you'll clearly see the passion they have for their products and their ingredients.

I've been completely converted and I wanted to share a few of my favourite products.

I'll start with their Rehydrating Rose Facial Oil

I apply this to my face after cleaning, it's 99% organic and claims to restore radiance and nourish skin. I find it incredibly relaxing to apply, it's not too thick or heavy and sinks into the skin almost instantly. I've learnt some quick facial massages to really wind down so this is great to use for that. I actually enjoy my skincare regime now, it's not a chore any more!

This oil has really improved my skin, it's cleared up my dry patches and left my skin brighter and feeling hydrated.

A little goes a long way, you only need a couple of drops to cover the whole face and neck area so it's well worth investing in.

Next, the Beauty Sleep Body Butter

This stuff is seriously luxurious. NYR say it 'Deeply nourishes and calms'. Fatty acids along with vitamins A and E keep the skin plump and conditioned and the beautiful blend of essential oils calm the mind and enhance a restful sleep.

It's brilliant on dry areas and just as good to cover your body. The skin feels really hydrated and it's a pleasure to apply when winding down for the evening.

94% say this keeps their skin moisturised all day - that's pretty good odds if you ask me! If you have dry skin this is a great product to try out. It's going to be a life saver in the summer after a few too many hours in the sunshine!

Next is the first eye product I've used that actually works! I have really restless sleep and I'm on the go constantly so something to brighten my tired eyes is a must!

The White Tea Toning Eye Gel refreshes, tones, firms and brightens dark circles. It ticks all the boxes! I only have to tap (not rub, the eye area is too delicate for that) on one drop of this for it to get to work.

White Tea Extract strengthens the skins immune systems by restoring damaged cells, it's also been proven to reduce the signs of sun damage - great for this time of year.

The anti-inflammatory properties  help to reduce puffiness and it feels like it really firms and tones the skin.

Using this in the morning and before bed has really helped me look more awake and it feels really cooling and refreshing on tired eyes. This baby has really made me look into other products with White Tea Extract as it seems like a wonder ingredient!

Which brings me on to the White Tea Enriching Facial Mask

I can always tell that something is going to be good when I feel instantly relaxed just applying it. The scent is heavenly! I've never felt so calm laying in a bath with a face mask before this! -and these scents are natural, it's all about the essential oils.

This mask is great for dry and sensitive skin, it's so creamy and packed full of natural ingredients such as Rose Flower Extract, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Frankincense Oil, Aloe Vera and of course the antioxidant White Tea Leaf.

After applying a thin layer you leave it on for 10 minutes and you're left with soft, nourished skin. This also claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines.

Now, I've let the best til last. If you invest in one Neal's Yard product it should be this one.

The Wild Rose Beauty Balm has won many awards and it such a versatile product it pays for itself.

It contains Wild Rosehip Oil, an antioxidant proven to help repair, firm and smooth the skin.

The skin's natural radices is restored and the skin is enriched and decongested due to the Geranium, Starflower, Hemp and Rosemary Oil.

It's perfect for all skin types  and tackles almost every skin concern. It also comes with an unbleached, organic muslin cloth made from organically grown cotton.

This balm can be used in a number of ways-

As a cleanser and exfoliator  -just wet the skin with warm water and massage in the balm, use a damp muslin cloth to. wipe away, then rinse.  or leave it on for 10 minutes to use it as a facial mask.

As a moisturising treatment -apply to dry areas to really nourish the skin.

Smooth over chapped lips as a lip balm, on your cuticles as a
nail balm, and even on dry feet as a heel softener.
It can also be used to tame brows and is even great as a natural subtle
highlighter when applied to cheek bones.

This would be my desert island product and I recommend it to everyone. If you are put off by th £38 price tag, you can buy the Award Winning Skincare Kit for just £15 which includes a 15mil jar of this as well as 4 other award winning products. Lush Haul

Now the fact this is titled as a 'haul' isn't strictly true. My brother in law and his girlfriend came to visit and brought me a gift. This made me smile for so many reasons, not just because it was a load of lovely Lush products. I won't  go into it but it made me very happy.

BUT they were spot on and if I had decided to treat myself I would have picked up most of these. They picked very very well!

When it comes to Lush, for me you can't go wrong with anything pink and as you can see they picked mainly pink products - they all smell incredible! I wanted to share a little about the bits they bought me.

Pink Flamingo
Now how cute is this? A little pink flamingo on a stick, what's not to love?! I let Mason use this a couple of times and he loved mixing it around the bath creating the bubbles. I was a little unsure at first as I bought him an 'Iclke Baby Bot' before and he got rather upset as he saw the robot fizz away into the water. It was a rather dramatic moment. But he was fine with this, maybe he feels less attached to the flamingo, I don't know.

You run it under the tap while the bath fills and will it around using the stick and the bubbles appear. It left the skin soft and smelling gorgeous.

The Comforter Bubble Bar
You can't beat a good bubble bar and the Comforter doesn't only smell great but it's a good size too. I make this last 4 or 5 baths. It's fruity and sweet yet calming, is full of lovely soft bubbles. You know the drill. This one is a staple in any Lush collection.

Golden Egg
This one is so glittery! -it gets everywhere. When glitter enters your life it never truly leaves (not necessarily a bad thing, I admit). Once in the bath the glitter disperses and it leaves your bath the colour of an unhealthy wee - there's no other way to describe it! Try not to concentrate on that and focus on how soft the cocoa butter and olive oil leaves your soft skin. The scent is sweet but not sickly and I was worried I'd be really sparkly afterwards but there wasn't actually a lot to show for the glitter side of things if I'm honest.

Think Pink
Think Pink is one of my favourites. It's one of the cheaper bath bombs so I never feel bad about treating myself to this one. This little pink bath bomb looks so cute with it's pretty flowers - very Spring-like!

Lush describes the scent as 'cheerful and calming' which is perfect. It's a bit candy-like but has a touch of lavender which really soothing.   You get a great surprise (which I'm aware I am ruining a tad for you here!) in the middle, as it dissolves it fills the bath with little red hearts. Adorable.

I love this bath bomb. Pink with stars, it smells gorgeous. It fizzes brilliantly and it looks amazing when it dissolves. This one looked like Pacman, which was so fitting for my brother and sister in law as they are really into their gaming. I was impressed anyway. Little things for little minds and all that...

It's designed to help you sleep and full of lovely calming essential oils. This is one I like to go for when I'm really run down and need time to properly relax and switch off.

All-in-all a gorgeous bag of treats that made my day. You just can't go wrong with Lush.
Now that I've used them all up I need to take another trip. Feel free to leave your suggestions, I'd love to hear about your favourite Lush products.
