Bourjois Summer Party Event 2014

Sometimes things just happen at the right time. I was having one of those days where I needed a break from being Mum. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's tough, it's an all-day job and sometimes I need a bit of 'me time'. I checked my e-mails that evening and I had an invite from Bourjois for their Summer Party in Leicester square. A rooftop party with cocktails, a BBQ and beauty chat is exactly what I needed.

Sam works nearby so we planned a date round it and decided we'd go for dinner afterwards. I toyed with the idea of leaving him to wait down stairs at a bar while I did the 'blog thing' but that felt mean. So up he came with me to enjoy the view of London along with all the amazing things going on around me. It was only fair as he was about to hear me talk about eyeliners for the next hour!

We were sent up to the top floor and greeted by the lovely team from Capital FM
and Bourjois. Everything was so pretty and pink! We got ourselves a glass of Pimms from the bar and headed over to look at the new products Bourjois have in store this season while Capital FM dj Pandora Blasted out some Summer tunes.

I admit I felt like a bit of a fraud, there were so many bloggers with huge blogs there and here was little old me. I'm not even that clued-up on who the big bloggers even are but I recognised a couple of faces, it's just hard to match the face to the blog.

So on to the products, there are two new shades of the much loved Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks. I've not actually tried any of these before as there wasn't a colour that stood out to me so I'm glad there's a couple more to chose from. They've added Nude-ist 07 -a natural looking nude for every day wear, and Grand Cru 08 -a dark burgundy red with pink undertones.
Also with new shades is the award winning Cream BlushThey've released two new shades perfect for a Summer glow, Pink Sunwear 05 - a soft bronze with a subtle pink undertone, and Tropical Coral 06 which is a warm coral to compliment tanned skin and medium skin tones.

One great new release is the Delice De Poudre Duo, after the success of the original bronzer they have now come up with a great double version for contouring and highlighting. There's a new shade of the Delice De Poudre Bronzer, this one is perfect for Summer as it has a touch of gold perfect for cheekbones. It's also a lovely shade to dust over eyelids for a gleaming shadow. Contouring has come a long way in the last year and these products are not only versatile but look and smell great too.

They've stuck with the gold theme and have also brought out the Effect 3D Lipgloss laced with gold shimmer. It's really nice over a nude lip to add a hint of sparkle. They've not forgotten about the eyes though as there's a lovely golden brown felt tip eyeliner Liner Feutre in Gold Shine which applied at the roots of lashes looks stunning.

What stood out to me was the waterproof eyeliners. There are some really bright colours that I wasn't sure that I'd be able to pull off but the lovely make-up artist assured me that I could and combined the Delice De Poudre with the Blue it Yourself Contour Clubbing waterproof eyeliner along my waterline. I was really impressed with how it looked, it's something I'd never normally go for but the combination of the gold and blue really made my blue eyes pop.

I had a reading of my lips done. I was asked try one of the Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks and kiss a bit of paper. The lady then told me a few things about myself through reading my lip print. Some things accurate, some things more ".....yea I guess, maybe" It was an interesting concept anyway, definitely a bit of fun.

swatching or doing a meerkat impression?

Before we left we had to check out the amazing chocolate fountain which was unlike any I'd seen before. With both white and milk chocolate flowing down either side it looked so impressive. Apparently there are only 3 of them in the country. I managed to keep my white dress clean too, which was equally as impressive!

On the way out I was handed a goody bag with a few lovely bits to try along with some little treats from Capital FM too.

Nibbling on some of the amazing canap├ęs from the BBQ (pulled pork and BBQ sauce being a massive win) wet our appetite and it was time to head down stairs for some dinner. I met some lovely bloggers, it was a lovely evening off from being mum and just what I needed.

I'm very excited to have a proper look at the new collection and try out some looks of myself!
