Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara Review

Bourjois are one of my favourite brands, but I've not actually tried many of their mascaras before. There was just something about their new release, the Volume 1 Seconde Mascara that just tempted me. I also hadn't bought a new mascara in...ohhhh...a month! *any excuse.
It was £9.99, I missed the boat with the introduction offer but I think it's well worth the money nonetheless.

The mirrored packaging makes it stand out in my make-up bag so it's easy to grab, even if I do catch glimpse of my half made up face in it -hall of mirrors style! There are two versions, the original has orange writing and there is also a waterproof version with blue writing. They've kept that very simple as it's the brush that does the talking with this product.

The barrel brush is what makes this mascara different from the rest.
If you look closely you'll see that there are 'wrap around spheres' amongst the bristles to coat every lash evenly and quickly. That's what gives it the 'one second' reputation and it really does work!

It really is easy  to swipe on when in a rush and you can be sure your lashes are covered, it's perfect for anyone who does their make up on the train, it's easily swiped on in no time at all, so you don't have to worry about a jerky train making you poke yourself in the eye!
Personally I like my lashes to have a heavy look to them so I'm more of a fan of building up my mascara, and although some can go spidery this thickens the lashes evenly and is really easy to manage, it built up really well without any clumping.

I think the before and after pictures speak for themselves, it's a lovely mascara that offers volume and length in no time at all, and it has the added bonus that after a day of wear I noticed no smudging or flaking.

I will definitely be picking up the waterproof version when my current one runs out, I'd love to see how it fairs in the pool!

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more Bourjois mascaras in the future.

Have you tried this? What did you think?
And if anyone knows how good the waterproof version is, let me know!

My Personalised Benefit Hoola Bronzer

You would have to be living under a rock to never have heard of Benefit's much loved bronzer, HoolaIt's loved by many beauty bloggers (and girls/guys/make up artists - don't want to offend anyone!) and  has been the number 1 selling bronzer in the UK for 5 years. Needless to say, it's pretty darn good!

Hoola has been my favourite bronzer for a long while. I was one of my first Benefit purchases and I've not looked back.

I admit I now use it a lot more sparingly, gone are the days where I thought the best way to wear bronzer was all over your face! dear oh dear....

Even though I still had a fair bit of my current box of Hoola, when I saw Benefit's Instagram competition to win a personalised box for myself I couldn't resist! All I had to do was post a picture of myself with my own box with the hashtag #HowDoYouHoola and my entry was in. I'm a lover of a selfie so it was no problem at all for me, plus I was in the middle of getting ready to go out so I was in the perfect position! I was absolutely thrilled when I received the notification saying I was one of the lucky winners!

I love anything with my name on, growing up nothing had Jenna on it and I felt so
left out when all my friends had personalised pencils and things at school. And now one of my favourite make up products was just for me! Take THAT Sarah, Claire and Laura! Not only did the box have my name on the front, but I had a mini squeal of excitement when I saw my name embossed on the brush too.

Apart from the obvious excitement about my name being on the box I loved that I had a new box of my favourite bronzer. It saved me £23.50 at least which is a big bonus!

Hoola has such a lovely colour and tone, it isn't at all muddy looking and I love the matte finish. Sometimes a shimmer bronzer can make you look a little more glittery than glowy.

Despite how dark it looks in the pan it's the the perfect colour and shade for all skin tones and is easily built up so very very easy to work with.
I find it works perfectly as a contour shade, but can also be dusted over the cheeks, nose and forehead to add a subtle tanned effect to the face.

All of Benefit's powder blushes come in these cardboard boxes, along with a soft brush and a small mirror in the lid. I use my own powder brush to apply it but the brush in the box is great to apply for contouring before blending out. Considering the box is made of cardboard, it's really sturdy, I don't even have to worry about throwing it into my bag, I know it will always be in one piece. They are a perfect size and shape to store too which is a bonus if like me you have far too many beauty products to count!

I'm thrilled with my latest win and I'll definitely be looking out for more Instagram competitions in the future!

Printic Photo printing App

I've become quite a big fan of Instagram. I admit there was something about it that I just didn't like to begin with. But now it's probably my most used app on my phone.

A lot of my pictures aren't of something I'd usually keep but they still bring back memories of those little moments I usually forget.

Some pictures you capture on your phone aren't exactly one for the mantle piece but it's nice to have something to look back on. I made the mistake of leaving all of my photos on Facebook and never printing them out and having something to really look back on. I deleted the awful social networking site from my life but the pictures are gone forever .... sort of.

I won't make this mistake with my Instagram pictures, as much as I can't see me deleting it any time soon, I know my feed will fill up and up and eventually many of my photos will fall into the abyss and never be seen again by the human eye (ok ok a tad dramatic but you get what I mean, right?)

So I made a plan to print out a few, and this niftily little app made it very very easy for me.

Printic is free on the app store and it accesses not only your instagram pictures but your Facebook, Dropbox and your camera roll on your phone too. You can easily select which pictures you want to print out an they are sent to your doorstep in a matter of days. Honestly it really was that simple!

Your pictures are printed on glossy paper 3x4 in the form of a Polaroid with a gap at the bottom for you to write a caption if you like. This can be done on the app or if you are old fashioned you can write on it yourself with a pen!

You can change the colour of the border too, I personally really like a black border on a black and white picture but there's pink, green, blue and yellow too.

You can order little box of 50 prints or just a small envelope. They even do a photo book which I think is an excellent idea, you could summarise a year in photos or those that did the 100 Happy Days challenge can make a collection of the pictures that make them smile.

They ship worldwide for free and prices start at 1.39€ (about £1.11) Just search Printic in the app store.

You can enter the code - 45225D to get 5 Euros of credit too!

Models Own Polish For Tans - Sun Hat

I just love this colour, I LOVE IT! It's not even one of the Models Own Polish for tan shades that caught my eye first. The neon coral in 'Shades' was my first purchase and I love that one too. I'm a big lover of neon nails so this range was going to be on my wish list for sure.  So on a recent shopping trip my Boyfriend treated me to a bottle from the Bottleshop to add another neon to my collection.

Sun Hat from the Models Own Polish For Tans  2014 range is a bright neon Barbie pink that really does set off a tan beautifully. Even for some who might see this as a bit much, I think it is amazing on toenails for that little pop of colour. It's a great shade to use for a bit of nail art too.

The green and yellow from the collation are fabulous but nothing I could pull off and while I've never been a massive pink fan but this polish really works for me!
I'm just head over heels about this polish! I really am!

The Polish for Tans range is out now and each bottle is £5 each.

A Father's Day Gift - Scaramouche and Fandango Travel Set

I never know what to get my Dad for Fathers Day, my Dad seems to have everything! He's definitely one of the hardest people to buy for in my family.

I was recently sent a great travel pack from the Pod Company which solved all my problems. This little travel pack from is perfect for my Dad to take away on his holiday next month.

I'd not heard much about Scaramouche and Fandango before but I really like their simple designs with a periodic table theme to them. Very in keeping with the Breaking Bad fan base -which ticks another box for my dad! The black packaging makes them look typically for men but the coloured writing makes them a bit more interesting and they stand out a lot more than other products I've seen.

Scaramouche and Fandango believe that real gents do not want to be overwhelmed with complex ingredients and cluttered packaging. They want products that simply perform. Their distinctive packaging is home to a range of products made with the finest ingredients and their formulations are made entirely in the UK. A signature fragrance, shared across the range, unifies the experience and keeps things simple.

The set includes four travel size products, each being 50ml so within the hand luggage restraints, there's even a re-sealable airline security bag to put them all in. they've made travelling ever so easy for you!

In the set there's  a black quinoa and shea butter shampoo lablled 'Sh', a Brazilian papaya and vitamin E body wash labelled 'Bw', an energizing shave cream with guava extract labelled 'Sc' and a moisturiser enriched with vitamin E for healthier, more hydrated skin labelled 'Hy'. The big letters on the front make it really easy to pick out exactly what you need without having to read tiny labels. It's really handy for travelling, excellent for a weekend away! In fact my parter is going away for work soon and this will be great for him to take with him without taking full sized products and weighing down his bag.

At £15 I think this is the perfect gift for Fathers Day.

Over at the Pod companies Twitter there's a competition to win one of these sets in time for Fatherd Day but hurry, it ends tomorrow!

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipstick 15 Corail Intuitive

Yves Saint Laurent is a high end brand I've always been in awe of, Chanel doesn't phase me, Dior comes close I admit but YSL just seems so classy and sleek and basically everything I want to be (I say slumped in my Juicy tracksuit munching on a rich tea!)
I have their Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara and since first purchasing their Touché Éclat I've never looked back. I think every new mum should be given one of these babies when they leave the hospital!

I've wanted to add a YSL lipstick to my collection for as long as I can remember. The packaging just screams luxury and it is one of those products that really feels like  a treat. I knew I wanted one, I just had to chose a colour!

£25 might seem a lot for a lipstick but I had an e-voucher to spend at House of Fraser and a little piece of it was going to purchase my lovely gold tube of gorgeousness. Vouchers aren't real money, so it's ok!

I wanted a colour I would get a lot of use out of, I would hate for it just to end up sitting unloved in my make-up bag case and only saved for special occasions.
I find nude shades can be very hit-and-miss and without trying it on and I didn't want to chose a colour that wouldn't suit me so I ruled out an everyday nude, just to be safe. Reds aren't exactly day to day wear for me so it was a choice between pinks and corals.
'Ever Hip' is one of my favourite MAC lipsticks, it's a  pinky coral that is really wearable. It doesn't offer too much colour but enough to add a little pop to an every day look. I decided something like this was what I wanted from my first YSL lipstick.

After a bit of online research (seriously, what did we do without blogs with swatches of these things? No wonder everyone's make up looked awful in the early 2000's...) I opted for the Rouge Volupte Shine lipstick in shade 15 -Corail Intuitive.

When it arrived I was as excited as I expected to be and even more impressed with the colour. A perfect day to day coral that compliments my skin tone. It's so creamy and stays put, it may be pricy but you get what you pay for -admittedly a lot of what you pay for is the gold casing but the product itself is definitely great quality.

I feel ever so Victoria Beckham (I should have said Audrey Hepburn or someone classic there shouldn't I..?) when ever I pull out the lipstick to apply, even if it is on a crowded train to Victoria to meet friends for Nandos!

This is my first YSL lipstick, but I tell you now, it won't be my last!!

What other colours do you recommend?

A Gorgeous coral polish and a GIVEAWAY!

I was sent a very exciting (and pretty) package with 2 bottles of nail polish for me to try. While this isn't completely strange in the beauty bloggers world, it's rare that that the polishes are identical.

But in this case it's 'one for me, and one for (one of) you'. All you have to do is try and guess the  brand of the nail polish pictured. If you guess correctly you get the second bottle for yourself.

This gorgeous nail polish is a coral bordering on an orange-toned red. Whatever colour you want to call it, I think it's such a great Summer colour. Imagine it on your nails while your hand holds an icy cocktail by a pool ....ah we can all dream! I'm wearing 2 coats in the pictures but I could have got away with just one.

If you want to have a go at guessing the brand of the polish follow the instructions below and I'll send the winner a bottle to try out! If there are more than one of you with the correct answer I will draw a name out of a hat and I will contact the winner as well as announcing it on the blog.

All you have to do is follow me on Bloglovin and comment below leaving your -

1. Answer.
2.  Bloglovin username.
3. Twitter name or an email address for me to contact you on if you win.

There are more pictures which could give you a few clues over on my instagram too.

The closing date is 8th June 2014 and I'm sorry but this is only open to those in the UK.

Good Luck!
