Cinderella Exhibition Leicester Square London

Last week I went along to the Cinderella Exhibition in London's Leicester Square which showcased items from Kenneth Branagh's new live action film. As a big Disney fan this is something I really didn't want to miss. Put on by Swarovski I knew it was going to be a pretty spectacular affair... one with a lot of sparkle!

This post is a bit picture heavy, I warn you!

As you walk in you see some great never-before seen artwork from the original 1950 Disney film that we all know and love. I admit Cinderella was never a huge favourite of mine (my 4th favourite princess after Ariel, Aurora and Belle since you asked)  but seeing the original sketches was pretty amazing!

There was an interactive story book of the cartoon which you just hovered your hand over to turn the pages and could read through the magical fairytale to really get you in the mood for the main event.

Entering the next room you are quickly moved on to the 2015 live action film and a selection of the fantastic costumes are on show to see. The detail is incredible, so much thought has clearly gone into each piece. It was nice that they weren't replicas of the cartoon but still had the same styling that you would picture.

The wicked Step Mother's costume alone just says 'evil' -but part of me really wants it, look at that fabulous hat!

The Fairy God Mother's dress was one that really stood out to me, you can get up real close and see the detail which is amazing. The drapes of the shimmering fabric give a really magical feel to it and the detail on the bust is really beautiful.

After meeting the Fairy God Mother you walk through a pumpkin and when you appear out the other side it becomes a carriage. I have no pictures of this as the lighting was pretty bad it it had got really busy around this part. But I tell you it was very clever.

Pictures and artwork from the film were framed throughout as you entered the main ballroom.

The ballroom was where you see Cinderella's beautiful iconic dress. Made of 24 layers and covered in 10,000 Swarovski crystals it's really breath taking.  Cinderella's dress is surrounded  with outfits of guests at the ball including Prince Charming of course. I was in total awe of the dress, it's just stunning!

It didn't take long before I was distracted by a shoe (what's new ay?) The glass slipper made of Swarvoski crystal rotated in all it's beauty.

...Totally looking around to see if I can take it!

Isn't she a beaut?!

The tour came to an end and you exit past a very glittery Disney Cinderella sign and into a gift shop where I was actually very good and just had a look around!

It was a wonderful exhibition and I'm so glad I went. I'm so so excited for the film now and I know I will really appreciate the costumes much more now that I've seen them up close .

The tickets are free but you need to order them from Ticketmaster and the exhibition is on till April 10th. If you are a Disney fan I really recommend you get a ticket.
